with their gender than in co-ed schools?
Why are boys more likely to take English and modern languages and girls maths and science? Why are teenagers who attend single sex schools twice as likely to study subjects not traditionally associated?
following perhaps, in mixed schools pupils can see that the subjects are split in favour of one gender and just follow where as in single sex schools the subjects are not attached to a particular gender.
Yeah i think that's it, the herd following the herd. Why are teenagers who attend single sex schools twice as likely to study subjects not traditionally associated?
Single sex schools tend to be better schools and will encourage pupils to study what they are best at rather than what 'is expected' thereby increasing the number of high A level grades and ensuring more final year students get places at good Universities.
All the above has the added bonus for the school of enhancing its reputation.
A school's reputation is based on the number of high grade passes at GCSE and A level (UK) and the percentage of students who get into good colleges - (all countries)
There is less self consciousness in a single sex school - kids won't be so easily persuaded to opt for the subjects traditionally associated with their gender if there are no members of the opposite sex in class.
Peer pressure regarding subject choices will not be based on gender bias and pupils will be less likely to group themselves in classes according to gender.
I went to a single sex boarding school and totally lucked out because in my final two years at A Level I studied English (5 pupils) French (7 pupils) and German (2 pupils)
Can't get a better teacher:pupil ratio than that.
Typical feminist does argue always in the same manner.
1-How these puppies are “sorry” that half of the society has a problem and we should find a solution!!!!! No they are like a two years old retarded child which laughs for an accident.
2-How come the “resources” are old, not valid, personal opinion, ..with feminists S…interpretations mixed..
3-How come non of them refers to it as a problem, but celebrating that “girl read English better” . it shows from where they are looking.
Not mentioned that they read better, but understand less than boys. With the same amount of time and effort that boys put, there will be no girl in school able to do any thing..
4-Men are out of educational system, they can not teach to boys how a man thinks and acts. Boys have to tolerate all those stupid things that can be interesting for a girl. So they leave.
5-They have been under pressure for any thing that a normal boy do it. System wanted to make a girl from them. This is the lowest level for a boy, so they don’t learn what the **** they say, so they don’t pass the “EXAMS”.
6-With all these “WOW….HAHA,…LALA” still we are doing and mastering the same things that we were in 1900. Where are these empowered wimmin? Some more in offices?
boys grow later, natural thing, more complicated living element needs more time to reach maximum.
7-Where are the prove that they are better in languages? We just said that for leaving some thing for them, if no they feel bad.
8- correct my English and Grammer as long as you want, but when you don't get the points, what is use of it.
I guess because somebody has to do those classes...or they feel more free.
But English and maths were compulsory in my schools anyway so no choices there!
You could get out of maths in the final year but that was about it!

Most likely because there is little competition or traditional ideas such as ';Girls are better at_____'; or ';Boys are better at _________.';
Sounds like we should go back to more single-sex schools-let the parents pick which school they'd like their kids to attend, so no one can say it's a masculinist or feminist agenda..it's just an educational agenda.
Maybe they feel more comfortable taking those classes without the presence of the opposite sex.
Probably because they know they aren't going to be the only boy in a class with girls or vice versa. Quite sad that that is how some teenagers decide their A Levels.
